Recital 2019 Parent Information!
Is my child in the recital?
All of our dancers enrolled in our 2019 Spring Session who have paid their recital and costume fees are included in our annual Spring Showcase. Dancers will be performing their dance both nights of our performances. We do require that at least one adult be present with your child/children on each night.
WhAt should we expect?
Our Spring Recital is an opportunity for your dancers to show you how hard they have been working in their classes all year! They have combined their technique practice with some fun choreography and now they get the chance to perform their dances on a professional stage in front of their loved ones! That's You!
We are so excited to have a theme to our show this year: JUKEBOX HEROES! All of our dancers will be learning a piece to a classic piece of music that makes us want to get up and boogie!
Dancers should arrive in their costume, and will stay seated with you until two dances before their piece. When it is two dances before their piece, dancers will make their way (quietly) to the ramp on the left side of the stage to wait for their turn. We will have an adult waiting there to help gather all dancers and to make sure everyone is accounted for. At the end of the show, we will have a final bow and will invite all of our dancers back onstage to take a final bow for their adorig audience!
When/Where Is The Performance?
This year, our recital will be held at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue in downtown Glenwood Springs! We are so happy to be partnering with the Vaudeville to bring a high quality dinner - theater style experience to our dance families!
Monday, April 29th: We will have a dress rehearsal after school, where we will show the dancers their stage, and practice their dance in costume to make sure they are comfortable and know what to expect during the nights of the show. Each dance should only take 15 - 25 minutes onstage for dress rehearsal.
Wednesday, May 1st: SHOWTIME! Dancers should arrive in their costume, and will stay seated with you until two dances before their piece. We will start seating people at 6:00pm so that the Vaudeville can start their dinner service, and we will start our show around 7:00pm! Our show is only about 1 hour total, so we will not be having an intermission this year.
Thursday, May 2nd: SHOWTIME!
By paying your recital fee, you have already reserved 2 tickets for our show. That is 2 tickets total, per family. So if you have more than one dancer, you still only have 2 tickets in advance, not 4.
But I paid a higher recital fee because I have more than one dancer in the show. What was that extra money for?
Our recital fee starts at a base of $35 for one student, and that includes two tickets to our show + one T-Shirt for your dancer. We add on $10 for each additional student to cover the cost of an additional T-Shirt.
Can I purchase more tickets for the show?
YES! We do have limited seating this year, so we are opening up our ticket sales to you first to make sure your family and loved ones get to see the show, before we open it up to the public. That is why it is SUPER IMPORTANT that you tell us how you would like to use your first two tickets for the show by MARCH 20th.
If we have not heard from you by then, we will automatically use 1 ticket for each show night to guarantee one adult is present per family.
How much are the tickets?
Tickets are: $12 for adults and $7 for children (you do not need to purchase a ticket for your dancer(s), and children under 3 are free)!
** TICKET PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE DINNER**
The vaudeville has been so generous and given us a great deal this year. They are only taking the profit from food sales, so let's take the time to thank them and buy dinner or desert or a celebratory glass of wine for Mom & Dad
(you deserve it!)
You can purchase additional tickets for the shows starting March 21st by clicking this button!
Your dancer will have one costume per class that they are enrolled in. We have purchased tights for each costume that needs tights, but your dancer will also need appropriate footwear for their class. Ballet students will need pink ballet shoes, Tap dancers will need black tap shoes, and Hip Hop students will need clean sneakers for the performance.
What about Hair and Make-up?
Ladies will need to have their hair neatly pulled back from their faces for the performance (preferably in a bun for ballet students).
Make-up is not required for our younger dancers, but if they would like to get dolled up for their special day we recommend a light amount of mascara, some lipstick, and a very small amount of blush. If you feel confident and comfortable with eyeliner, you can choose to put some on as well.
We will be releasing these costumes to you on picture day: April 20th, and after that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD'S COSTUME. If you misplace your dancer's costume, there are no extras, and your child will not be able to perform their piece with their class. That would be such a bummer, and would break our hearts, so let's avoid that possibility and be very responsible with our costumes.
Currently, we do allow pictures and videos to be taken of our recitals. We do ask that you refrain from using any FLASH photography or disrupting your fellow parent's ability to see their child or children perform. We will also have someone taking pictures and videos of each dance that would be happy to share with you if you are interested.
***NEW THIS YEAR***
We will be holding an in-studio picture day on Saturday, April 20th at 10am. Our photographer has generously offered her time to us for only $10 per dancer, which is a screaming deal! This includes 5 pictures of your cutie in their costume (group and individual) that will be shared with you by email. There will be no print restrictions or requirements, just a little bit of your time on a Saturday.
As always, contact us with any other questions that you may have!
